Nonprofit Fundraising gala Auction in the round Returning client

A gala experience designed around the moment of giving.

ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA ANNUAL GALA: Space City Pro placed the auction at the center of the room on a custom branded dance floor. In-the-round audio, dynamic lighting, a large LED wall, and live digital bidding at each table connected dinner, appeal, auction, and celebration in one returning engagement.

01 · THE BRIEF

The room was designed around the gala’s fundraising appeal.

St. Anthony of Padua’s annual gala brings its donor community together in one room. The auction called for close sightlines, clear audio, and digital bidding at each table.

The answer was to stop staging the auction at the front of the room and put it where the energy already was: the center.

THE ROOM
BRIEF · ONE LINE

Build the night around the giving moment.

An in-the-round auction from the middle of the room, live digital bidding at every table, and a lighting and video design that moves the energy from dinner to auction to celebration without a hard cut.

02 · THE ROOM

A custom branded dance floor served as the room’s visual center and auction stage.

The centerpiece was a custom branded dance floor: the event’s identity printed into the middle of the room, working as dinner ambience first, auction stage second, and dance floor last. One build, three acts.

A large-format LED wall carried the school’s story and the live auction lots, while dynamic lighting changed the room’s register: warm through dinner, focused for the auction, and saturated for the celebration after.

03 · THE ASK

In-the-round staging placed the auctioneer at the center; audio coverage and sightlines followed.

In-the-round auctioneering is an audio problem before it is anything else. The auctioneer faces each direction over the course of a lot, the room is loud, and intelligibility must be checked at the tables. We engineered and tested the system around the 360-degree floor.

Live digital bidding kept the whole room in the auction. Guests bid from their seats as the numbers moved, which does two things a paddle alone can’t: it removes the distance between impulse and action, and it lets the room feel the momentum build in real time.

Central staging made proximity the defining quality of the auction.

In-the-round staging trades the comfort of a front wall for proximity, and proximity is what an ask needs. The production’s job is to make that trade free: clean audio in every direction, sightlines over the floor, and light that follows the moment.

04 · THE RESULT

The format has returned across multiple years because it gives the gala a clear dramatic center.

The branded dance floor, LED, lighting, audio, and digital bidding workflow all serve the same progression: welcome the room, focus the appeal, make the auction immediate, then release the energy into celebration.

Space City Pro designs and supports the in-the-round environment as one experience, coordinating sightlines, intelligibility, screen content, lighting, and bidding around the point in the evening that matters most.
